March 20, 1998 -- What would the world be like if we were all elves and humans were mythlogical creatures? What would the world be like if I could speel?
I really need new jokes. Any donations? I sat around my house a little today. I was going to "buckle down" and do some work. I ended up buckling up and going with Bri to some video game stores, lunch at Bennigans with Joe, and a quick trip to the mall. I didn't get much done. But I did learn that if you get arrested you don't have to serve jury duty, and you can get a job that pays more than the one you're at now. Go figure. I did get a bit of a shock though. As Bri and I were leaving Computer City a tall cashier stopped us. "Punch in already! Both of you!" She was teasing of course, but I realized how much I've been there after closing. I even helped with the clean up one night (just to get Brian out faster, of course...we had a movie to catch!). I felt slightly pathetic that all of Computer City probably wouldn't blink if I walked straight into the back of the config desk and started installing RAM. I'd put it in backwards, and they'd get it then, but they might not notice me otherwise. Brian knows everyone at EB too. People all over the mall are wondering when I'll be back at work. I have friends in the food court. The MicroPlay employees know my name. I know theirs. It really scared me for a second too. Oh my god! I'm a geek! I'll have no friends and pick my nose for fun! I'll end up watching reruns of The Electric Company and COPS! I'll snort when I laugh! Then I thought about it. I've been a geek all this time and I DON'T do that stuff! I have a wonderful (if slightly obsessive) boyfriend, friends all over Long Island and in parts of Cape Cod, extensive knowledge of videogames, and I've proven myself to be remarkably clumsy on skates. And I'm cute too. ;) Being a geek is probably the best thing that ever happened to me.
