I had my first day of classes yesterday. CS 350, Math 304, and PE128..or Operating Systems, Linear Algebra, and Women's Self-Defense.
Nothing quite like variety.
I have one problem...well, one SERIOUS problem. I need one more class. I spent all day Monday walking around campus looking for a course offering book. All 9,000 of them where in the lecture hall...the only building I couldn't walk though on my way to my classes. It was PACKED with people...all slow and confused. Not that I blame them, but being stuck behind slow people always gets to me. Grrr.
So I tried REALLY REALLY hard to find a class that would meet after my other classes so I could still get to the first day. No such luck. I have two options...History of Rock, Pop, and Soul (which wouldn't hurt too much) or Algorithms (which I need but have been told is HARD). I'm going to take Algorithms.
I'm going to whine. A lot. Two CS classes and a math class. And I have to learn 'pure vanilla' ANSI C. Knowing C++ already I'm betting it won't be too bad. But the idea of relating food to a description of a programming language has me concerned.
There are dinosaurs on the cover of my Operating systems textbook. Big cartoon dinosaurs. I am afraid.
On my way out the door on Monday I chucked a notebook into my old black schoolbag. I've had it since tenth grade and it seems like I just can't replace it. It's one of those small Jansport bags...so the bottom of it rests just above my kidneys when I have it on. So I never get that 'books sticking me in the kidneys' problem. So I went to zip it up and the pull slid over...without closing the zipper. I sighed, and tried again. This had been happening for some time on the small pocket so I figured if I just messed with it a little it'd be fine.
20 pulls later I chucked the notebook into another bag and ran out the door.
So today I went to Walmart. They usually have lots of cheap schoolbags. I needed a small one. I found one in the hunting department. It's small, and it has cool pockets...it says 'Thrive' on the front in big letters. And it's yellow. Bright yellow.
It's kinda cool in the 'never get shot in the forest' kind of way.
Not that I'm ever in the forest.
I've been trying to get on a better sleeping schedule, since Algorithms is going to be at 9:30 in the morning. This afternoon I came back to my apartment, lay down and read two comics...then fell asleep at 5pm. I didn't wake up until midnight.
So much for a better schedule.
So I'm going to go lie down and try to sleep. Or at least finish my soup and pretend to sleep. Maybe I'll work on my fan fic tonight...but this journal will keep me up for hours.
Real Audio tomorrow...hopefully. My mic finally got found and plugged in tonight.
