Two Words: Cable Modem

<< [MAIN] >>

.....................

Ha ha! I have a cable modem now! I just need to spend so much time online...for valid SCHOOL reasons this semester, that it makes sense. The phone here was simply busy...all the time.

But that doesn't mean I'm not playing with it. ;) I fully intend to have dozens of CDs full of mp3s by the time I'm out of this apartment in a year or so. ;) I've already downloaded TONS of stuff I never would have known I liked it if I hadn't downloaded it. I love mp3s, but they're going to make me like more bands and buy more CDs....grrr.

But in other news...yes, I was drunk last time I wrote an entry. Lisa took me out and I had a great time, and I didn't even feel that bad the next day. I was feeling happy about making friends and having a life. Having a life is good.

On page two of the "Having a Life" handbook, it says "Talk to strangers every chance you get." This was how I met Jeremy in linear algebra. Unfortunately, he's the one who read the handbook...I must have missed that page the first time around and was being shy that day. He talked to me. ;) We tried to figure out exactly what happened but the gist was I mentioned I had an urge to see Highlander, and he realized he did too...so I rented it and we got together to watch it. Turns out he's really cool...he's fun to talk to, has good taste in music, and I even got him to watch anime with me.

Well, Jeremy is in my CS class too...I sat in the front with Lisa and he was all the way up in the back where I never would have seen him or even guessed he was in that class too. I actually found out when he mentioned the CS homework one day. We got together to work on the CS project too, because he's good with C and I have "Mad Crazy Cutting And Pasting Skills".

Having a life is just too much fun. I even got to go to a club!

I was so thrilled to have gotten drunk for my first time I mentioned it to Jeremy. He was so shocked that I hadn't been drunk before that time that his eyes fell out and rolled halfway down the hall. After he picked them up and popped them back in, he said he'd take me to a party and get me drunk one of these days.

I'm not looking to be an alcoholic, but I wouldn't mind having a little more fun in college. It's been slow and I think I deserve my chance to misbehave a little too. So this past friday, the plan was to go to The Underground to dance and get drunk. We hung out in the afternoon and worked on the CS work...until the power went out.

By the way, my UPS backup works great, even on my new huge computer.

So instead of getting any work done we just sat around and talked until the power came back on. He's from Rochester, he likes freefall, and he's the middle child. He gives himself a buzzcut every few weeks.

*Note* -- Buzzcuts are incredibly cool. I love how they feel. It's very relaxing to rub someone's head when they have a buzzcut, and Jeremy doesn't mind.

We ate a Lean Cuisine Skillet Sensations, which is a very very cool food product. It's a meal in a bag, just put it in a pan and heat it up, stir a few times and eat it. And it's TASTY! I recommend trying it.

Then we walked to campus to catch a cab. It was cold but there was no way we were driving, and it's only a few minutes walk to campus from my place. The bad part was leaving our jackets and my sweater in his dorm and walking down to the cab. Brrrr. Long sleeves or not, that's COLD.

The cab picked up a few more people in front of CIW (College In The Woods, one of the dorms), and I wasn't expecting to run into anyone I knew. Especially not Becca, because she doesn't even go to Binghamton. She was visiting her boyfriend and just happened to get in the same cab.

I'm pretty sure we scared Jeremy with the girly shriek we let out when we saw each other.

I'm not sure what I drank, but I know I had a Amaretto Sour and a Sex On The Beach, plus a shot of something that tasted like mouthwash, and a beer. Remind me to get up and move around a little bit between drinks next time. We just sat at a table and talked, and I wasn't all that drunk...or so I thought. It wasn't until we stood up to dance that a realized how drunk I was. Too drunk.

Kathy will never drink that much again. Ever. I thought four was a bit much anyway, but then Jeremy mentioned that there was more than one shot in some of what I had. He counted six. I very nearly harmed him. ;)

But he got my drunk as hell self home safe and I didn't die. I felt really really awful the next day, but I didn't die. I'm kind of amazed I didn't puke my brains out either. Wow, I'm finally a real college student. Getting drunk and staying out late, studying with other people and wasting time. I love college. But I will never drunk so much again. It wasn't THAT much fun to be drunk.

...it's a shame my webpage has been suffering for my increased social life. I'll have to work on that.
