I have slightly less actual tooth in one of my teeth now. But I also have slightly less cavity in that tooth. I am grateful that my teeth won't rot out my head, and I'll still be able to enjoy such hobbies as chewing my own food. But damn, I hate that drill.
I guess that goes without saying, really. "Actually, I'm rather fond of having someone dig holes in my teeth with small metal tools" is not something you hear often, and if someone does happen to say it you think they're a sick freak.
I am not a sick freak. I hate that drill.
"I don't think I'll need to give you any novocaine for this."
Should I be relieved that I don't need a needle stuck in my gums? Or should I panic because it's going to hurt "just a little"? Maybe more than that needle in my gums. And it's a different kind of pain too. That nails on a blackboard type of pain....in your mouth.
I think the drill wasn't as bad as I'd thought it would be, but the sensations of that little air blower thingy my dentist dried my freshly excavated tooth out with so he could fill it was nasty. It was that pinching cold sensation that runs all down your spine. The "Thanks for the backrub, Freddy" kind of feeling.
Ugh...I may never be able to run my tongue over this new little bump in my tooth without getting chills...and I can't leave the damned thing alone! When I got my first cavity it wasn't so bad. Just a little star in the back of my mouth that I hardly noticed. The second cavity wasn't so bad either...but the dentist filled it with white stuff so it doesn't show. I would run my tongue over it and feel how smooth that section was compared to the rest of my teeth. It wasn't bad at all.
This cavity was kind of bad. I didn't like it. And I don't like it. I can't see the difference at all though. There's just new little ridge between my teeth. I'm sure I'll eventually get used to it and forget all about it. But as for right now, I have this horrible grating feeling running all over my mouth. Having teeth drilled is almost as much fun as a mouthful of broken glass.
