I'm not going to launch into a huge heartfelt apology for not updating in almost a month. I had to move back up to Binghamton to start my senior year of college as a computer science major. I'm taking 18 credits and my boyfriend lives on Long Island. I'm either doing homework or driving long distances. I'm sure you understand.

I'm going to bitch.

I'm going to bitch a lot. About school, spiders, Dan being 219 miles away, Automata, Algorithms, Senior Seminar, History, and GUI (Graphical User Interfaces...i.e Windows).

Actually, I'm not going to bitch about GUI....I like GUI. I have respect for my GUI professor. I spend the entire class gazing in awe at his mad skills. His cool 3D OpenGL screensaver came on during class one day and I turned to Jeremy and said "I'll bet he wrote that screensaver". Jeremy agreed. I'll be posting cool little windows programs I'll write later in the semester. I still won't be able to write cool OpenGL screensavers though. I lack those powers.

I'm going to enjoy that class. I'm going to bitch about everything else.

School

I am taking 18 credits this semester. 14 of those credits are CS classes.

I have to take a lot of required classes this semester. Three required CS classes, one elective, and a GenEd class. GenEd isGeneral Education. I think it's dumb because I didn't come to college to learn about Anthropology, and I don't have enough time to take all the CS classes I want to take anyway. But I have to take classes in other fields of study. Such as History, which is what I'm tkaing this semester. This will be my last GenEd course, then I'm done. Then I will feel true joy once more.

I was so pleased to be done with all my math requirements. I thought "Golly, now I never have to suffer another math class again as long as I live!". Nope...wrong again Kathy. Guess what you do all semester in Algorithms and Automata? That's right Kathy! You do proofs by Induction.

I deplore proving anything. Proving things by induction just sucks harder. I'm not going to try to describe how to prove things by induction...no one cares and if I could describe how to do it it might not suck as hard. I'm really bad at proving anything...especially by induction.

They're making me use logarithms too. I don't like logarithms either. It's all math. Just have me write code, man! I hate math!

Spiders

Supposedly it's bad luck to kill spiders. Someone else told me it doesn't make sense because spiders eat all the other bugs I might have problems with.

Do you have any idea how many spiders I've killed in this apartment in the two years I've lived here?

Me neither...but it's a really high number. If I was superstitious I would be living in a house with more spiders than spaces and I would have spider carpeting. As I write this there are 3 spiders in my room, six in the kitchen (dying from the Raid I sprayed, of course), two in the bathroom and four in the living room. Most of them have been sprayed but those are only the ones I found.

I'm sure there are others. Lots of others.

As for spiders eating all the other bugs...what other bugs? I bet these spiders are eating each other because of the lack of other bugs. Not that I'm complaining, but I could do without all the spiders.

Yuck.
