What are your strange comfort foods? I like mayo sandwiches. Just mayo on white bread is all I need to fall asleep when the going gets rough.
Right...well...it makes me feel a little better though. Today I needed comfort foods almost half the day...
Now I know I have been a Bad Girl this semester, and I have failed to tell you anything at all about my classes, teachers, or anything else to do with school. This is despite the fact that I have "interesting characters" as teachers this semester.
I will fix this.
First off, my schedule ROCKS this year.

Fridays off! Yaay! Too bad I have four, senior-level CS classes and Friday's off just means I don't have to BE anywhere. There's still four assignments due yesterday. But that's what college is all about. Creating extra hours in the day after you've frittered away the 24 you started with.
So, Neural Networks...my professor is Southern, and his accent and manner of speaking all contribute to the feeling of being in a Baptist Church learning about Evolutionary Programming, Adaptive Boosting, and other cool sounding concepts I only half get occasionally.
Today, I had a presentation to do with my small group...we were supposed to present on Tuesday, but my group (with the notable exception of Lisa...) decided to ditch class. Not only were Lisa and I pissed, so was the Prof. And he waited until today to take it out on the class. Us, the guys in our group, and the other group that ditched Tuesday.
We got bawled out GOOD. And THOUROUGHLY.
So after getting bawled out by Yosemite Sam, we had to get up and give our presentation.
Another thing to know about this class is it's a mix of undergrad and graduate students, and onsite and offsite students. We never see the offsite student, but they see us every week, because the class is videotaped and sent to them, and copies are kept in the reserve reading room as well. As if we weren't nervous enough about a presentation in which we faked an understanding of the concepts in the class, they were saving it for posterity.
We put our first slide up, and started talking, and after approxmately three words we were stopped and bawled out again ("Why'd you do it that way?") by the prof. We got about three words out each time before being told we were wrong or asked why we did something a certain way.
So the prof is reaming one of my partners for a while and I look out at the class. One of the grad students, Ryon, is sitting in the back of the classroom making a spanking gesture. I almost crack up. Then I look up at the video screen and the shot is of the class room, with my partner in a bubble in the corner. There's Ryon, spanking away and getting saved for posterity.
Then I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing. Hard.
After class (and our presentation lasted until the very end) Lisa and I decided we needed to go to the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) to forget our sorrow. The food was so good it was almost orgazmic. It almost made me forget how sure I was I was going to fail Neural Networks miserably.
In other news, I was listening to the radio and heard something interesting. I'm sure Dan will be heart broken when I tell him, but the Empire Club was having a "Big Hair 80's" night. All his favorite songs, by all his favorite bands...including RATT, Quiet Riot, Poison, and Mötley Crüe...among others.
Think "White Tiger-Print Spandex". Think "Come on, feel the noise.."
Now you've got it.
I love him, but he's never going to live down christening his new tape deck with a White Lion tape.
Maybe I'll get him concert tickets for his birthday...
Promoters around the country are surprised by strong ticket sales for the just-launched package tour of Poison, Ratt, Great White, and L.A. Guns. But that's just the beginning of an '80s hard rock rebirth. The phoenix that is hair rock will include new albums for all those groups Ratt's will be first, coming out in late June on the reactivated Portrait label as well as more tours and albums by the once (and, in some cases, still) coifed likes of Mötley Crüe, Quiet Riot, Night Ranger, Slaughter, and Firehouse
::snicker:: Just when you thought it was safe to throw out that pair of hot pink legging, the oversized white tee with the cut open neck, and that lime-green plastic shirt clip...
